The knight races home by horse upon hearing of Henry's death. He's being pursued and shot with arrows, but still being able to attack back. He's stopped after cutting down a 2nd man, by Beric, whom is then stopped and told to tie him up, and ready to go to Whitethorne Abbey. The man is locked up and a priest tells of how they'd be burning him at the stake, then a large man with an axe comes in to quietly chop his head off, but is stopped.
The newcomer tells him to stand, the released prisoner following to where the man had a horse. They ride to a castle where the man is finally given aid and rest. The man has a dream, but thinks he's dead as he's spoken to by a creature much larger than him, and he's floating in the air. The creature claims to be him, and demands being accepted as he wakes on a bed.
The doc and other men in the room are spooked by his healing, but agree to get water, so he could bather, since their mistress wishes to see him. Upon greeting the royal, James Dunreith, Duke of Ca'Rynth sits and gives his condolences for Henry. Lady gets to business about wishing to hire him to discover whether the Earl of Glenowyn, Edmund DeVelere isn't using dark arts. James doesn't wish to help, due to not believing it, but after Lady has a fit, he agrees to keep a look out in order to prove her wrong.
After leaving, he sees Bri, an old friend on the rd. Bri soon notes he doesn't think much of Edmund, but the 2 are interrupted when helping a fam fight off thieves. The Lady Gervaise de Lacey is a casualty, though and doesn't survive. When James attempts to get the footman to leave, he realizes it's a disguised girl, and instead of leaving her to bury her mistress like she insisted, he grabs her and the 3 head for an inn a couple hrs away.
After Jamie calms the young lady down again, she reveals she's Ellianne DeVelere, her pop being Edmund. A half drunk dimwit tries to start a sexual assault, but Jamie helps stand up for her, and the 2 go elsewhere for ez lays. Later, Jamie comes to Elli's aid when she's in bed and screaming about demons.
In June 1193, in England, Elli wakes shouting of demons, Jamie trying to comfort her, but she seeming to take it more seriously than he. Jamie states he understood, and stays as she goes back to sleep. When they'd gotten back on the rd, they cat of Elli's estrangement from her pop, and Jamie admitting no man could resist Elli's looks. Meanwhile, a fairy goddess lady spots the prince, as Elli sees her old school burnt down, and when hearing a far off scream, assumes it's a surviving nun and rides off with Jamie calling her an ignoramus.
They follow her to a circle where she still hears screams. He warns them to stay out as he investigates, and when Elli reveals the number of nuns, Jamie confirms the same dozen with stone markers, he then somehow being dragged under the earth by hands. When he feels desperate, his monster self returns to remind him he exists, and then he sues the eldritch fire, and the ghosts back off. The spiritual fight exhausts Jamie, but fortunately Elli is able to grab him and with Bri's help, they drag him up.
They're noticed by Robin Hood and he gets Jamie clean clothes, after which he considers the dragon's reality despite being his dream. Elli interrupts and steals a kiss, a goblin creature shooting an arrow, but the fairy goddess plucking it before hitting them. Later on, Jamie hears Hood's fight against the nobility who've been destroying the poor, so they are looking into Glenowyn due to it's somehow staying peaceful. The 2 team up, Jamie looking into the village as Hood helps gather anyone to march with them.
When they get to Edmund's castle, they hear of a tourney being scheduled, and whilst he wants to oblige Elli's wish to go to his home, they must finish their mission. Edmund spots Jamie, whom hasn't aged, and Edmund's wife leads Elli off to get dressed properly in gown. Later, Edmund gives Anne, his wife, some hsit for instigating Jamie meeting the dumb twit from the inn again, and now would have to duel him. Then, it's made clear he had plans for Jamie, as well as their daughter Elli, whom must be sacrificed!
Jamie and Edmund practice sword-fighting and Burgo still can't admit he'd made a mistake by slapping Jamie with chainmail. Elli sees from the tower window right before getting into the bath and her weird ma tangles her cross in her hair, so she could magic it, and drop it. Jamie and Edmund's joust is good-spirited, but full strength. The 2 then go in for breakies as Elli gets her hair brushed, and realizes she'd started her period, staining the woman's robe, she not caring about it, since she learnt Elli thought her ma died giving birth to her.
When Anne exits she speaks with Edmund of how she'd seen him spying behind the tapestry and isn't amused by his making light of killing their daughter. Edmund reveals it's the same for Jamie in not knowing Edmund's true meaning to him, either. Regardless of not believing him, Anne obliges, and must kill some fairies flitting out, her magic catching the eye of Jamie from below the window, but not seeing enough to be sure. Meanwhile, Edmund changes 1 of the fairies into a darkling, and makes it his spy.
As Bri practices shooting arrows, he chats with Eamonn, a fairy folk, telling him how the dragons power could destroy everything for good, but Bri can't turn his back on his buddy, the 2 seeing a fairy fall. The fairy'd die, and Eamonn uses this as proof of what the dragon's power could cause, due to she having been diseased. Bri and Eamonn agree to chat later, Jamie walking up, and Bri reminding him the dragon is he. He's in so much denial, he flicks the dead fairy from Bri's hand, and clocks him in the face.
Jamie qs his response later, when Elli walks up looking like a lady. As the horse duel begins, Anne uses her charm to help Jamie lose. Edmund doesn't stop the joust despite Elli noticing Burgo's lance not being blunt, leaving it to Jamie to handle or call out. Well, Jamie suspects the conspiracy, so doesn't shy away when the young man still comes at him.
After Jamie runs the dumb boy through, later at din din, the magic takes over, and Elli gets drunk, gets Jamie to fuck in front of everyone, and Edmund runs them them through with a sword, at least waiting for them to O, now claiming their power.
Aelfric a blacksmith, has just gotten married when demons come flitting about, getting himself killed, but his wife, Rowena being protected by a woman, Bri considering how the black dragon could still affect people with Jamie killed. When the dragon holds Bri, he thinks Jamie could still be in there. When the dragon leaves, Bri orders a priest to find Robin Hood on behalf of Jamie and the Queen, as Anne is qing why Edmund wants to keep Bri alive still, and Edmund confides wishing for all his naysayers gathered so he could obliterate them altogether, wholesale style. Edmund starts with a couple claiming to be his buddies, he trapdooring them into a hole with a beast ready to consume them.
After, Edmund attempts summoning the dragon. Robin Hood then asks a sick baby to willingly sacrifice herself so they could obtain power through Hood's fairy sword, the child agreeing by touching it, purifying the fairy blade. Rob and Bri next race to the beast which Bri believes is Jamie and Elli. As Ed attempts to rest, Anne contemplates her own yearning for how she wanted everything to turn out.
As Friar Tuck, Rob, and Bri travel, they see a fairy. Eamonn meets them and completes the protective circle which summons Jamie as he should be, Bri explains this to Jamie when he arrives. Jamie is about to sacrifice his existence to stop Edmund's control of the dragon, but is stopped as Bri makes for the killing blow. Morgan Le Fey claims Jamie as her son, and they would not be allowed to hurt him.
Jamie is glad to reunite with his ma, whom he is told had died, which she admits is a partial truth. She clarifies her version of the events being when she'd become a human, she loved a prince and Jamie was conceived, but due to rumors, her hubby is killed, and she bound, but getting vengeance only not in time to be there for Jamie's upbringing. Eamonn warns of Edmund's plans, then Bri sees new people approach. Q Eleanor greets the mythological bunch, she chatting with Jamie.
They game plan the best way to keep Edmund from control of the dragon is for Jamie to try and handle Elli. Before he can though, Edmund magicks Elli some of her human brain back to torture her and instigate hate for Jamie. Morgan Le Fey, Q Eleanor, Hood, and Bri prepare to fight Edmund's men. Whilst being discovered a bit soon, they are still able to lower the gate for their troops to back them up.
As Jamie joins the fight in his demon form, Elli sees and body checks him, Edmund happy she'd take Jamie out for him. Then, they see the dragon coming, but no one having yet to know whom he is loyal. Edmund is cutting down men with his crystal sword as the dragon flies nearer. As Edmund's blade cuts enemies, the dragon gains wounds, Morgan connected to him, so also sustaining injury. Edmund takes over with powering the dragon, so feels invincible.
In 1193 in England, evil lives in Glenowen castle, and currently Mogan is unable to oppose Edmund's fresh power surge. Anne attempts to calm Edmund, but he's gotten too single-minded, she witnessing Elli throw Jamie into flames to release him. Bri is noticed as he uses the fairy blade by some soldiers, and Elli's thinking changes according to Edmund's full take over the of dragon. Morgan is dissuading men from killing Gwyneth, whom also is transformed, not caring she could infect human or fairy should they touch her blood.
Anne is trying to stop Edmund now, but he turns on her and slashes her with his blade. Back with Elli, she starts shedding her darkling beast skin, and when speaking with Anne before she dies, reveals she's her ma, and her real pop is fairy and she'd murdered him. Whilst Elli's human form vanishes with her dead ma, leaving her a monster once more, she has her full ability to think remaining, she next apologizing to Jamie for how they couldn't have remained happy, he urging her to finish this. So, off she goes to get the dragon's attn, as Edmund yells of Jamie losing the right to the dragon as he slashes him.
Meanwhile, Elli is trying to rationalize with Gwyneth of Edmund being their true enemy, and failing, but the dragon collapses the tower they're in and Elli is in danger of dying. Morgan gives her the choice of whether she or Jamie will live on to fight Edmund. She chooses to let Jamie live, since he's already fighting Edmund, and he's supposed to, and shit, so dies. Jamie slowly transforms to human, and plans to kill Edmund, whom plans to take him with him, if he can.
Jamie's plan is to make it so Edmund doesn't wield the dragon's power, ever. Morgan next reveals Elli and Jamie had been reincarnated as babies, and Bri is asked to raise them, the 2 expected to begin a new legacy of spiritual force and temporal strength. Gwyneth wakes nekkid in a beautiful field with the dragon, she restored to her human form, the 2 knowing whom had sacrificed themselves to save them.
Cute story, I'm glad I found all the issues. Worth the read, but not necessary if only in it for the art.
